It is home to 830,000 people, over 31,000 businesses employing 360,000 people and contributes £19 billion GVA annually to the UK economy. As part of the Thames Estuary – the UK’s exciting growth gateway to the world – North Kent has huge untapped potential. But it also faces challenges from the legacy of its industrial and military past, leaving pockets of serious deprivation in some communities. These remain the focus for ongoing regeneration, building on many years of both public and private sector investment.
Partnership
Greater North Kent covers the area comprising the borough councils of Dartford, Gravesham, Maidstone and Swale, together with Medway unitary authority. Our partnership is an alliance of these councils plus Kent County Council.
